Welcome to the AC Delco Bowmen web site!

AC Delco Bowmen Archery Club was originally founded in 1966 as part of the Sports and Social Club providing facilities to the employees of AC Delco, the company that had manufactured components for the motoring and engineering industries in Southampton since 1951. At some later time, membership of the club was made available to the general public. In 1998 the company sold its Southampton factory and ceased to have a presence in the area, but the club has continued without changing its name.

The club is situated on North Stoneham Lane, which runs between Southampton and Eastleigh, in Hampshire, very close to junction 5 on the M27 and fairly close to junction 13 on the M3. We are directly opposite The Concorde Club (a well known jazz club and hotel) which is a local landmark.

Over the winter of 2002/3 we moved to this location which we share with Concorde North Stoneham Football club which has provided us with better facilities and more access than our previous range. During the summer the range is available to club archers effectively 24 hours a day, 7 days a week whilst during the winter the football club plays on Sunday mornings and at some other arranged times.

The club has a Coaching Team made up of three resident County Coaches, one Coach and three Level One Coaches. Some of these are training to the next level and other members of the Club are waiting to begin their training as coaches. The membership also contains many archers with great experience who are friendly and willing to help and advise the less experienced.

Beginners' courses are held on Saturday mornings where all necessary equipment is available for novices to use until they develop their technique and are ready to buy their own.

The club has both nationally and internationally ranked archers and has provided the county teams with many members. Annually, a number of tournaments are held by AC Delco Bowmen details of which can be found elsewhere on this web site.

The club is affiliated to the Grand National Archery Society, Hampshire Archery Association and Southern Counties Archery Society.
