Where we shoot

The Club shoots outdoors on a sports field opposite the Concorde Club to the west of Stoneham Lane between junction 5 of the M27 north of Southampton (the airport junction) and Eastleigh. Our car park is also west of Stoneham Lane adjacent to the field with an entrance gate just north of the Concorde Club proper next to a bus stop.

During the winter, we shoot indoors on Tuesday evenings using the Sports Hall of Thornden School to the north of Eastleigh and Chandler's Ford (just off the M3 at Junction 12). "Frostbite" rounds for postal league competitions are still shot outdoors during the Winter!

When the evenings are light enough (roughly April to October), the shooting moves back outside to Stoneham Lane.

When Can I shoot?

Outdoors

The field is available to Club members for shooting most days during the summer. In the winter the field will be unavailable on Sunday mornings until after 14.00 plus some other afternoons and evenings. All other dates agreed with the club by the Concorde Football Sports Club and will be posted to the Calendar of events page if there is time. Please allow sufficient time to clear all equipment from the pitch, goal lines and sidelines before the start of any matches.

There are regular beginners' lessons most Saturday morning from 10:30 until 12:30 normally followed by coaching sessions for improving archers in the early afternoon. Club Target Days are normally arranged on Tuesday evenings during the Summer.

The field is marked out in yards (solid lines) and metres (broken lines).

Please take note of the following guidelines concerning security and good practice at the club field in Stoneham Lane:

Tiny AC Delco BadgePlease ensure that the car park gate is kept closed and locked at all times except for when large numbers of people are expected to be attending, for example Saturday morning beginners sessions and tournaments.
Tiny AC Delco BadgePlease ensure that the rising bollard kept up at all times except for when large numbers of people are expected to be attending, for example Saturday morning beginners sessions and tournaments.
Tiny AC Delco BadgePlease do not leave any of the containers unlocked unless it is in continual use and there are people nearby.
Tiny AC Delco BadgePlease do not leave any of the combination locks open - that is with the combination showing; ensure that you randomise the tumblers when the lock is closed!
Tiny AC Delco BadgePlease ensure that you check that everything is locked if you are the last to leave - you might not have unlocked it, but someone else might have left it unlocked for you!
Tiny AC Delco BadgePlease make sure that all target faces, pins and tie-downs are removed from bosses and returned to the container and that the bosses are returned to the correct place.
Tiny AC Delco BadgePlease put all rubbish and debris into the bins. If you are unfortunate enough to hit the wood of a stand, you must clear any resulting splinters from the field.
Tiny AC Delco BadgeIf you are unfortunate enough to miss the target and be unable to find the arrow even after a thorough search, you must contact the Club chairman, or failing that another member of the committee, as soon as you can. Please also record the loss on the notice board in the Club Hut before you leave the field.
When the arrow turns up, the person holding it and location found will be noted on the notice board.

Indoors

Indoor archery takes place at Thornden School during the winter on a Tuesday night from 18:45-21:45 October - March: cost normally £3.50 per evening. Members of the club are expected to help in setting up and removing equipment. During the indoor season our indoor club championships take place. We also enter postal league competitions.
